Florida held off Tennessee today in a matchup that many thought would be an absolute blowout due to comments made here by Lane Kiffin.
Lane Kiffin's Volunteers covered the spread against Florida and his wife (left) is STILL hot. Sounds like Kiffin might be the true winner here.
By “many”, that doesn’t include us. As mentioned on our week 3 College Football Crapshoot, we’re getting tired of ‘Bulletin Board’ games, hyped by past occurrences of trash-talking and even towel-stomping, that are supposed to be fuel for a blowout loss.
Lane Kiffin mentioned he would beat Florida, and he didn’t. However many (again, not us) watched, and waited with bated breath, for Lane Kiffin to get his comeuppins in blowout fashion. Many waited for Urban Meyer to call a timeout in the fourth when Florida was up by 40. They waited for Tim Tebow to throw on 4th down in the final minute after Florida had already smoothly covered that -30. The College Football Live crew had a debate on whether or not Urban Meyer should call a timeout should Florida be up by 40 in the fourth. Many were WRONG.
Florida did just enough to beat Tennessee. No blowout as advertised. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of ‘Bulletin Board’ Games. We pray it is.
