Each week, Nasty Mind will bring you notable news stories with opinions and views from The Big Nasty himself. This week, Favre gets fined, Randy Couture gets richer in defeat, and the Green Ranger fights MMA!

[FROM Sherdog.net] Jason David Frank, formerly the Green (and White) Ranger scheduled to make MMA debut against Ron ‘The Badger’ McMasters.
I have the fondest memories of the Green Ranger beating up those tweaked out putty monsters during his stint(s) on Power Rangers. Apparently he’s been fighting MMA since age 5, and if you’ve seen him lately, dude is all jacked up and covered in tats. Not quite the long-haired heartthrob he was on The Power Rangers I Guess.

[From UFC.com] After suffering his second straight defeat to Antonio Minotauro Nogueira at UFC 102, Randy Couture announced he has signed a six-fight, 28-month contract with UFC.

Eli Manning, who signed a $97.5 contract with the New York Giants after going 1 and out in the 2008 NFL Playoffs, thinks this is a questionable call on the UFC’s part.  If you ask me, and that’s just if you ask me, I don’t think Randy has 6 (good) fights left in him.  There has been talk of Couture taking ‘interesting fights’ instead of continuing to fight the top contenders, and Couture has even expressed interest in moving down in weight to Light-Heavyweight.  I think a move down to Light Heavyweight could preserve Randy Couture’s career just as long as he doesn’t run into Loyoto Machida.

[From WWE.com]  Former longtime host of The Price is Right, Bob Barker, to host WWE Raw.

This should make from some very interesting television.  Some memorable guest hosts on RAW include Shaquille O’Neal, Freddie Prinze Jr., and Jeremy Piven who  infamously referred to WWE’s Summerslam Pay-Per-View event as ‘Summerfest’.

[From ESPN.com] Oregon RB Legarrette Blount suspended for 2009 NCAA season after punching Boise State OLB Byron Hout in the face.

Good.  This was embarrassing to watch and I hope Legarrette Blount learns from his foolish ‘mistake’. (I put the words mistake in quotes because making a beeline for the Boise State Stands after hitting a player in the face shows intent, does it not?) Blount will still be able to practice with the team, so hopefully he is able to make the most of practicing with a Division 1 team in a BCS conference over the length of a full season.

[From The Associated Press]  Brett Favre fined $10,000 for illegal crackback block on Houston Texans Defensive back Eugene Wilson.

Favre knows what he did was wrong, but what seemed even more wrong is the fact that Brad Childress felt it was a good idea to split his soon-to-be 40 year old quarterback out wide and throw a block in the preseason…what?!

Favre fined $10,000 for illegal block.

[From Yahoo! Sports] 3 time NBA Champion and former Los Angeles Laker Rick Fox has signed onto The new (or old) CW Drama Melrose Place.

Rick Fox co-starred opposite Angela Bassett in Tyler Perry’s Meet The Brown’s, which received a 30% on Rottentomatoes.com with Angela Bassett getting most of the praise.  However I think Fox can carve out quite the niche in the overly-dramatic soap opera scene.  Good looking, average acting, great smile…what’s there not to like for an overly-dramatic soap opera?

[From The Network Star-Ledger] The New York Giants cut, Superbowl hero, David Tyree.

I had been hearing reports out of The Giants training camp that Tyree had not impressed to say the least.  If David Tyree is able to continue to hone his craft and eventually rebound, he could be a very valuable Special Teams addition for an NFL team.

[From Orlando Business Journal] The Florida Tusker’s, of the United Football League, sign former NFL players Tatum Bell and Koren Robinson.

The Tuskers have had a busy offseason and have signed many former NFL talents such as WR Doug Gabriel, QB Craig Nall, and TE Jermaine Wiggins.  UFL execs probably don’t want to hear this, but having players who made their names in The NFL is a great starting point for The upstart UFL to gain some recognition of its own.

[From Fighters.com] Tim Sylvia has signed on to play Jason Vorhees in Friday The 13th.

While this should be…interesting, it is not nearly as interesting or entertaining as, fellow MMA fighter, Rampage Jackson’s potential role as B.A. Baracus in the upcoming A-Team movie, which I’ve heard everything from confirmed to a mere rumor.
