NFL Halftime Hindsight: Steelers Tied with Titans in a sloppy opening half
__________________________________________________________________________
The Steelers are tied with The Titans 7-7 through one half of play.
LONG STORY SHORT…
This game has been all defense and was scoreless for most of the first half. Both the Steelers and Titans were able to get on the board in an exciting final few minutes of the first half as Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger hit WR Santonio Holmes on a 34-yard touchdown strike. The Steeler’s scoring drive was quickly answered by the Tennessee Titans offense as Titans QB Kerry Collins found Justin Gage on a 14-yard TD pass.
Chris Johnson looks unstoppable. He’s carried the ball 9 times for 55 yards including a nifty 32 yard run where stopped on a dime, and turned an almost surefire loss into an awesome run.
LenDale White has gotten bood everytime he’s touched the ball. I guess somebody DOES care about him stomping on The Terrible Towel a year ago.
THE FOLLOWING PLAYERS NEED A HALF-TIME PEP-TALK…
Troy Polamalu has looked shaky in spots. Although he had a freakish interception, he has accounted for 3 Steeler penalties.
The Steeler’s Offensive Line has been manhandled thus far. Ben Roethlisberger is already on pace to be sacked 96 times this season as The ‘Silk Curtain’ Offensive line gave up 3 sacks in the first half. To play Devil’s Advocate, Ben did hold on to the ball a bit too long on 2 of those sacks.
LOOKING AHEAD…
These two teams looked to have been feeling each other out early with The Titans offense hitting its stride before The Steelers. Rob Bironas has missed 2 field goals. The Steeler’s Offensive line needs to protect Big Ben if they want to leave with a W. For some reason The Steelers haven’t been blitzing much, but I look for that to change in the 2nd half. The Titans need to keep feeding Chris Johnson as well as work play-action passes to Justin Gage. Even though this game is tied at 7 through one half, The Titans look to be winning.
