Adam Jones signed a one year deal with The Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Adam “Pac Man” Jones just can’t seem to escape being linked to weapons.  After a criminal record that would make Bobby Brown look like a choir boy, Adam Jones managed to run himself out of the NFL.  However SI.com’s Jim Trotter has reported that Adam “Pac Man” Jones has found a new team:  The Canadian Football League’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers who, ironically enough,  are the only CFL team named after a weapon.  Couldn’t he have just signed with the Montreal Alouettes?  What about the Calgary Stampeders?  The last thing Pac Man Jones needs is to be linked to ANOTHER weapon.

In February of 2007, Pac Man was infamously involved in a Las Vegas nightclub shooting after allegedly beating the hell out of a stripper for trying to collect “rain drops” (dollar bills) in which he and hip-pop star Nelly had thrown onto the stage.  The situation got even uglier when a member of Pac Man’s entourage was believed to have fired a gun into a crowd.  This was just one of a Clorox-Caliber laundry list of multiple criminal offenses, over  the span of a few years, involving Pac Man who was suspended for the entire 2007 season because of them.  Pac Man was again suspended in 2008 for another four games after trying to beat up his body guard in a hotel room in an alcohol-fueled rage (Pac Man’s terms of reinstatement specifically prohibited the consumption of alcohol).

So it should have come as no surprise when SI.com reported that Adam ”Pac Man” Jones had signed a one-year deal with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League.  Adam Jones will now follow in the footsteps of players such as Jeff Garcia and Warren Moon (who have had their own run-ins with the law) as athletes to play in both the NFL and the CFL.

The Blue Bombers finished last season with an 8-10 record last season and were eliminated in the Eastern Semi-finals by the Edmonton Eskimos.

UPDATE: On September 2, 2009 it was reported that The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have ended their pursuit of Pac Man Jones [Associated Press]. Bummer.
