2009 NBA Season: Don’t Call it a Preview
__________________________________________________________________________With The 2009 NBA Season upon us, we’ve trashed the traditional team-by-team preview that assume your teams are going to stay healthy, and we’ve decided to take a look at some more intriguing stories and matchups that we will witness the year before The entire NBA as we know it receives the single biggest makeover of all time.
More Technical Fouls, Ron Artest or Rasheed Wallace?
Gotta go with Sheed on this one. I, like a lot of people apparently, think Artest to The Lakers is going to be a lot like Rodman to The Bulls. The leadership of Phil and Michael Kobe will keep Artest dialed in mentally for a longer period of time thereby reducing his impressive technical foul statistics. Sheed will be Sheed. Kevin Garnett provides great leadership but screaming after an and-1 hook shot isn’t the type of leadership that figures to keep Rasheed Wallace out of foul trouble.
Better Free Agent Acquisition who used to be a Net, Richard Jefferson or Vince Carter?
Although I see The Magic returning to The NBA finals with the risky acquisition of Vince Carter, I have to give the slight edge to Richard Jefferson as his accurate shooting will provide the same spark Michael Finley could have provided had The Spurs acquired him in his prime. I think Richard Jefferson has at least one more peak year in him, and I expect him to flourish under The Spurs.
Better Rookie, A healthy Blake Griffin or Tyreke Evans?
The Clippers are quietly gearing up to possibly become a surprise team this year as they do have a respectable talent level with Eric Gordon and Baron Davis, therefore they will not be as dependent on Blake Griffin to produce. On the flip side, Tyreke Evans will be shooting at will en route to The Kings losing the majority of their games, and now he figures to get a 6 week head start with the injury to Blake Griffin. Tyreke.
Lebron vs. Kobe 2009: Who wins?
I don’t see Lebron getting to the championship. The Shaquisition will help to a limited degree, as a motivated Shaquille O’Neal is always dangerous, however the acquisitions of The Celtics and Magic will have more of an impact offensive. I see Kobe getting the last laugh of the season, but Lebron just might storm out of Cleveland for the $10 billion contract The Knicks are supposed to offer him. $10 billion dollars? Shit, I guess Lebron wins that one.

Kobe Bryant and his NBA champion friends return.
Over/Under 41 Games : Gilbert Arenas
In 2008, Agent Zero celebrated his new contract by sitting out the majority of last year as yet another injury compromised his season. Gilbert Arenas over 41 games? That’s half of a season for Gil to stay out of the tub. I’ll believe it when I see it. UNDER.
