Do YOU hate Rush Limbaugh?
__________________________________________________________________________Do YOU hate Rush Limbaugh?
Before you answer that question, consider the following: It does not matter for the sake of this article, nor should it when it comes to Rush becoming an NFL Owner.
Last week, it was reported that, controversial conservative talk show host, Rush Limbaugh was interested in becoming a minority owner for the St. Louis Rams. You would have thought it was being reported that The New York Giants were moving to Saskatchewan as the reactions have been overwhelmingly negative to put it lightly.
Rush Limbaugh has had a history of racially and socially insensitive comments, all made with the intent of stirring the pot and driving ratings, which he has successfully done for years now on his popular radio show.
Yet because of the mini-saga of aforementioned controversies surrounding Limbaugh, there has been much debate over whether or not Rush Limbaugh should be an owner in the NFL. Deadspin.com currently has an article entitled Horrible Person wants to buy Horrible Team that hints at The Rams not drafting any black quarterbacks should they enter The Rush Limbaugh Era. Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson (please) have expressed their disapproval of the move, and ubiquitous player hater Josh Whitlock even (obviously) weighed in with an article this morning painting Limbaugh as a “hatemonger”, which may or may not be true.

Do YOU hate this man? Well it doesn't matter in this discussion, so I don't wanna hear it.
But they’re all missing the point here. Rush Limbaugh wanting to buy the Rams is a business decision, and should be viewed as such. It shouldn’t matter what his principles are, and it damn sure shouldn’t matter what he may have said in the past in his ‘role’ as an entertainer who makes his living inciting emotion in anyone with the audacity to take him seriously. How do we know Jerry Jones doesn’t have questionable beliefs? Do we know ANYTHING about Robert Kraft’s principles? Do we even care? I sure as Hell don’t because, at the end of the day, they are great owners who became owners based solely on their potential (both financially and competitively) to produce results for an NFL Franchise, which is the only thing that should matter. Principles be damned.
Rush Limbaugh is a disgusting human being, both inside and out, but we here at The Big Nasty Athletic Dept. have NO PROBLEM with Rush Limbaugh becoming a minority owner in The NFL. Rush? Minority? Hehe, irony.
A great point was brought up by one of the hosts of Mason and Ireland on 710 ESPN radio today as he referred to Jay-Z, who owns part of The New Jersey Nets, being universally accepted into The ranks of NBA owners despite using deplorable and misogynistic lyrics in many of his earlier albums. The host asks why Jay-Z wasn’t met with such a firestorm of criticism for his lyrics when it was announced that he wanted to become an owner. Hm??

Jay-Z, one of my favorite rappers and a man with songs such as 'Money, Cash, Ho's' and 'Is That your Bitch?' owns part of The Nets. Where was the outrage for that one?
This is the same EXACT situation that Rush Limbaugh finds himself in, as he being met with unnecessary resistance due to deplorable and unforgivable comments he made in order to fulfill his role as an entertainer. If it’s okay for Jay-Z, one of my all time favorite rappers, to be an owner in any sport, then it should and will be okay for Rush to be a minority owner. And if it makes you feel better, as a minority owner Rush would not have the power to throw a Nazi patch on all Rams uniforms, nor would he have the stroke to draft an all-white Arian Army of professional football players, with the intention of bringing back slavery, otherwise known as The St. Louis Rams, despite irrational media sentiments suggesting the opposite.

Well said my man. While I DO come CLOSE to feeling empathy for the liberal of the SAME OLD SORRY ASS RAMS fans, that will be forced to either change allegiances, or eat their pride, the fact that people think their opinion will keep this guy from making this move is funny. Do they expect some intervention to take place to keep their precious organization from falling (partly) into the hands of a jerk? How many times in history have we seen hostile (or at least not welcomed by employees or patrons) takeovers go down? No intervention there! Why should there be? ISN’T THIS AMERICA??! Bottom line: if PLAYERS feel strongly enough about this move to keep them from signing the big contract with the organization, THERE is your intervention…But what are the chances of that happening?
