NFL SpreadSHREDDER, Week 6: Philly’s gonna be MAAAAAAD…
__________________________________________________________________________SpreadSHREDDER Week 5 ATS: 3-0 (Straight Cash, Homey)
SpreadSHREDDER Overall ATS: 10-6
The SpreadSHREDDER is officially on fire. After enjoying another winning record this past week, and its first perfect week of many to come, The SpreadSHREDDER has hit on 5 of its last 6 picks ATS and 7 of its last 9! This week presents some tough matchups, but that didn’t stop us from being able to scope out some big money winners with great potential to deliver against the spread.
In these tough economic times, one of the only sure fire ways to lace your Brett Favre Wrangler denim pockets with cash is to roll with the SpreadSHREDDER. So let’s get rolling.
Oakland (+14) OVER Philadelphia
Average Joe sports fan is looking at this game thinking it’s another lock cover for the Eagles against a(nother) pathetic Radiers team. However those of us who do our homework know just a little bit better.

For all the bad things everyone's ever said about The Raiders, THIS is their chance to make us look line geniuses. Please don't screw it up.
No, we’re NOT getting ahead of ourselves as this is one of a select handful of games that was circled by the SpreadSHREDDER as a no-doubt pick, no matter how bad The Raiders were going to be, weeks before The NFL season began.
The Philadelphia Eagles are playing the Oakland Raiders this week. Now, let’s try saying that from a SpreadSHREDDER Perspective: The Philadelphia Eagles are traveling two time zones to play The Oakland Raiders in a non-conference game with the most important stretch of their season on the horizon as they face three consecutive division opponents. Divisional games are of the utmost importance to every head coach in The NFL as they are virtually worth 2 games (as you gain more ground in your division with a division win) and an automatic playoff berth to the division winner. Non-conference games are the least important.
With Philly set to play The Redskins, Giants, and Cowboys in succession, The Eagles will look run a completely vanilla scheme in hopes of underexposing their gameplan to ensuing division opponents on both sides of the ball. Hope ya like Dryers. In addition to a less aggressive game plan, The Eagles will look to keep themselves as physically fresh as possible for their upcoming stretch by not expending too much energy after that long flight and no bye week from here on out.
After getting blown out in consecutive games out East, we already know that The Raiders have value. But it will be more important distractions on the horizon for The Eagles and a conservative approach on offense (look for McCoy and Westbrook to run it more than normal) that will save The Raiders from yet another embarrassing loss as The Eagles survive. PHILADELPHIA 23, 17.
Jacksonville (-9.5) OVER St. Louis
The Jags have been up and down all season. They were way down last week, after 41 point blowout at the hands of The Seahawks, so naturally we like them to be ‘up’ this week as they host a dome Rams team coming to play on the slow grass of Alltel Stadium.
With The Rams giving up almost 1,000 rushing yards above The NFL Median this season, look for Maurice Jones-Drew to get going early and often as The Jags return to their strength at runningback without having to worry about a shootout. The return of Mike Sims-Walker, the best wide receiver that you’ve never heard of (unless you’re a fantasy dork), will also help the Jags in the passing game on their way to what should be an easy cover at home following a turnover-influenced blowout on the road. JACKSONVILLE, 24-7.
New Orleans (-3) OVER The New York Giants
The Giants are 5-0 despite battling a handful of injuries in their secondary and offensive line. As good as The New York Giants are, their current 5-0 record given their injury situation is a byproduct of their soft schedule to begin the season.
The blitz-happy Saints will look to open the floodgates in order to keep a hobbled Eli Manning under pressure for the entire game. The loss of talented Giants safety Kenny Phillips will begin to become more apparent as Drew Brees and The Saint’s top 5 offense periodically tests The Giants depleted secondary.
Saints Head Coach Sean Payton will have no problem coming up with a gameplan for a Giants team he coached for as an offensive coordinator for 4 years, and then coached against as an assistant with The Cowboys for 3 years. It’s no coincidence that Payton is 5-3 against teams from The NFC East as Saints Head coach, and has only lost one of those games by more than a touchdown. We like The Saints to win this one by less than a touchdown, and still cover. NEW ORLEANS, 27-24
