SpreadSHREDDER Statistics

SpreadSHREDDER Week 6 ATS: 2-1

SpreadSHREDDER Overall ATS: 12-7

The SpreadSHREDDER continues its roll after highlighting last week by picking The Oakland Raiders, who came through and cashed on the ‘upset’ of the year thus far in The NFL.  As we proceed, look for yet another upset pick to appear at the top of the SpreadSHREDDER as well as the first ever Over/Under pick in SpreadSHREDDER history.

Miami (+6.5) over New Orleans

One of the tools The SpreadSHREDDER uses when making picks are those bullshit NFL Power Rankings that come out each week.  Power Rankings are The NFL’s weekly A.D.D. poll based strictly on short-term memory and the eyeball test, and they give us a great indication as to who is getting just a little too much credit.

New Orleans Saints Fan

The Saints are going to get a reality check that 'The Power Rankings' never saw coming.

After viewing these Power Rankings, it should be no surprise that we are picking AGAINST The New Orleans Saints, who are #1 in most of these polls.

The Saints beat a Giants team at home, fresh off of a bye week, not to mention The Giants had been racked with injuries to its secondary, which was an easily exploitable flaw for one of the top ranked passing attacks in The NFL.  After defeating a team from New York in a big spot, The Saints have begun to become inflated in value.

The Saints will now travel to Miami to play on a slow grass field against a Dolphin team coming off of a bye week and, unlike The Giants, has no injury concerns whatsoever.  None.  So THAT’S how you spell poetic justice.

Much has been made of Gregg Williams (Saints Defensive Coordinator) and the aggressive blitzing schemes he’s implemented in New Orleans, however as long as the Saints are undefeated, nobody seems to want to talk about how these gimmick blitzing defensive scheme give up over 18 points per game (ranked 23rd in that category).  Go ask The New York Jets what The Miami Dolphin’s Wildcat offense can do against a gimmick defense that lives and dies by pressure from DB’s.  It also doesn’t help that The Saints will be playing against a quarterback in Chad Henne who has a limited scouting report as he is making just his third NFL start with The Dolphins.

Expect The Saints to come down to earth a bit as their defense gets exposed by a well-rested and HEALTHY Miami Dolphins team playing at home.  MIAMI, 31-27

Indianapolis (-13.5) over St. Louis

The Colts will be coming off of a bye week and playing on a familiar indoor turf surface against a Rams team averaging 9 points a game, that will not have its best weapon in the passing game (Donnie Avery) at 100% if he can go.

To make matters worse for The Rams’ Ryan-Leafesque offense attack, Colts game-changing Safety Bob Sanders is expected to make his return.  Look for a below-average offensive line for The Rams to give up multiple sacks, creating turnovers and a short field for Peyton Manning and a potent Colts offense.  INDIANAPOLIS 27, 10

UNDER 44- San Diego vs. Kansas City

After doing its homework, The SpreadSHREDDER has found that The Chargers are playing 13 points overt the wagering total through 6 games, the type of figure bound to come down as they travel through 2 time zones, on short rest, and while fighting a negative body clock to play a division foe seeking revenge after being swept by The Chargers last year.

The average NFL team plays 4 points to the over or under (4 points over or under the wagering total).  The New Orleans Saints, who have the #1 offense in The NFL, are playing just 5 points to the over while The Indianapolis Colts, who have historically played +8.6 vs. the total are playing -2.1 vs. the total!  Don’t expect The Chargers to continue their string of high-scoring bouts.  Watch that Charger +13 evaporate faster The Mannywood era in Los Angeles after an early shower. SAN DIEGO, 19-10.
