You TOO can learn from Mark McGwire
__________________________________________________________________________With The Yankees going to The World Series for the first time since 2003 and the City of Philadelphia experiencing sustained championship success, baseball’s blast from the past theme continued with the announcement that Mark McGwire, yes THAT Mark McGwire, has been named hitting coach for The St. Louis Cardinals.

Mark McGwire has been named hitting coach for The St. Louis Cardinals.
McGwire’s community service new gig lands him back with the St. Louis Cardinals squad that he so infamously broke the home run record with, among other tainted achievements. It is thought by many that accepting this position could be Big Mac’s final ploy in somehow clearing his name and finally getting into The Hall of Fame. Wishful thinking to say the least.
While the decision to make Mark McGwire a hitting coach thrusts him right back into the public eye and, subsequently, sparks off unneeded and easily avoidable controversy in St. Louis (La Rousa’s DUI barely made Sportscenter…You know how close this world would be to coming to an end if that were Girardi or Francona?), McGwire brings an impressive resume back to the scene of the crime. At the least, Big Mac will be able to speak from experience in offering the following tips to his Cardinal ‘students.’
1. Tools to Becomoing a Great Hitter.

2. Dealing with Strikeouts.

McGwire infamously 'struck out' during a congressional hearing.
3. Effective Stealing

Roger Maris originally held the home run record with 61 home runs in a season.
4. Teamwork

5. …STILL Dealing with Strikeouts

Sorry Mark, maybe next year?
Good Luck, Big Mac, we hope all those uptight born-again moralists in the MLB front offices take notice of your Yeoman’s work and find it in their hearts to forgive you. Cooperstown, make room for your first asterisk!
