Your Ealry Games: OU De Ja Vu, Ohio State freefall, and why we STILL hate The Hawkeyes

Here’s the fallout from today’s early games that we cared about:

OU loses Sam Bradford, to Texas, again. In a hit that was freakishly similar to the hit Sam Bradford absorbed in week 1 vs. BYU, Bradford was knocked out of The Red River Shootout after just 8 plays as he left the game with a shoulder injury.  Talented backup Landry Jones lead a valiant Sooner effort, as expected, but Texas was able to pick him off twice on their way to securing a victory of the non-shootout variety.

Sam Bradford re-injured his right shoulder early in The Red River Shootout.

Ohio State loses, but do we have to call it an upset? After seeing The Ohio State University’s offense do its best impression of The Redskins last week against Wisconsin, we picked up a story that pointed to rumblings of OSU’s fraudulent behavior as a #7 seed, and promptly dropped them to #11 in our top 25 poll based on a gut feeling.  After going on the road and getting Terrelle Pryored by the unranked Purdue Boilermakers, The Ohio State Buckeyes have successfully put themselves in a position to endure more bitter and intense criticism than – well – The Washington Redskins.  Now we’re just waiting to see Archie Griffin come out and says he wants Tressel fired a la John Riggins.

Iowa continues farce, beats Wisconsin. A victory over an unranked Wisconsin team in the Big 10, which has become the small yellow bus of The BCS, will do nothing to change our stance on Iowa as an overhyped team that continues to ride the momentum of the most unimpressive win-streak in College Football (two wins against one ranked team, Penn State, during streak).  You can run, Hawkeyes, you can even fly as you are of the ornithological variety of mascot, but you can’t hide.  You CAN’T hide.
