NFL SpreadSHREDDER, Week 9: Doggy Style
__________________________________________________________________________SpreadSHREDDER Week 8 ATS: 3-1
SpreadSHREDDER Overall ATS: 16-9
SpreadSHREDDER vs. The Total: 0-0-1
It was business as usual for The Las Vegas Nightmare last week s as The SpreadSHREDDER atoned for its 4-pick fiasco back in week 2, the last time The SpreadSHREDDER had a losing record, and flipped the script with a 3-1 record. With Vegas’ frustrations with the favorites beginning to create inflated lines, we have gone doggy style this week by sniffing out 3 road underdogs Against The Spread. Don’t try this at home.
Carolina (+13) over New Orleans
After a big win on National Television to bring their record to 7-0, The Saints balloon is set to pop any minute now, and it really should have a week ago had it not been for a Miami 2nd half meltdown. The Saints will lose one day of preparation after playing Monday Night as they prepare for a division rival in an extremely important game for The Panthers as they try to get to .500 and save their season.

Don't sleep on The Panthres this weekend...That's what he's doing in this picture, right? Sleeping?
The Saints have 5 TD’s off of interceptions, the epitome of an out-of-wack statistic that has also contributed to The Saints’ inflated value. Jake Delhomme has had his share of problems with turnovers, which is why The Panthers have been leaning more and more on their strong running game (The Agin’ Cajun only threw 14 times for 90 yards last week).
The Panthers running game should control the tempo against a big-play, but hyped, Saints Defense that will not have as many chances to create turnovers through the air with the opposing quarterback handing off every other play. NEW ORLEANS 21-17
Washington (+10) over Atlanta
With Atlanta losing a day of preparation as they get ready to play a Redskins team coming off of a bye week and a firestorm of criticism, this couldn’t be a better time to buy The Redskins stock if not for one week (seriously, if they manage to screw THIS one up we’re done picking them to cover for the year).
The last time we saw Washington, they were getting blown out at home on national television. Good. The Redskins are too talented on defense to suffer another blowout, and after 2 weeks of preparation and answering the obligatory ‘what’s wrong with The Redskins’ questions, The Skins, and their 4th ranked defense, will be aching to get on a football field and do something positive.
Nobody seems to be taking this Falcons freefall seriously, but Atlanta’s coaching staff, much like Washington’s, is only in its second year with a book out on them as they have appeared on everyone’s radar this season. The Redskins stop the bleeding (for now) as the Falcon Freefall continues. WASHINGTON, 16-9
Houston (+9) over Indianapolis
Houston is off to its best start in franchise history, yet still needs a signature win to really be considered a contender. That signature win could come this Sunday as The Texans play division rival The Colts as they compete to stay in the division race for The AFC South.
The Texans are one of the highest scoring offenses in The NFL, averaging just under 25 points per game, and as an offense that is just outside the top 10 in 3rd down conversion, converts 20 first downs a game (above league median), and whose average time of possession is 32 minutes (more than The Colts), The Texans should be in great position to ‘steal’ one in Indy. HOUSTON, 27-24
Miami at New England, UNDER 47
With the weather getting colder out in Foxborough (lows of 40 degrees), Miami will find it awfully difficult to continue playing 11 points over the wagering total as they have all season. The Patriots have surprisingly been playing 2 points under the total this season, which is more normal. Bill Belichik with 2 weeks to prepare for The Wildcat, and a former Miami coach on his staff, will create problems for Miami’s offense. NEW ENGLAND, 26-10
