Jim Tressel Gets Another BCS At-Bat, Looks to Avoid Strike Four

2006 National Championship: Florida 41, Ohio State 14
2007 National Championship: LSU 38, Ohio State 24
2008 Fiesta Bowl: Texas 24, Ohio State 21
Jim Tressel and The Ohio State Buckeyes have been successful throughout the regular season an in Big 10 play, however they’re on the verge of laying the foundation for an unflattering legacy of a team that cannot win the big game. Ohio State’s non-conference record is bad, and their record in BCS Bowl Games as of late is even worse.
The Buckeyes’ last win in a BCS game was against Notre Dame in The Fiesta Bowl, howver The Fighting Irish have been fighting similar criticisms of not being able to hang with elite talent dating back to the beginning of The Charlie Weis era.
It’s time for Ohio State to win a BCS game against a talented team. That opportunity will come during tomorrow’s Rose Bowl against the same type of high-scoring and athletic team prone to embarrassing State on the big stage in years past. The Ohio State Buckeyes are 4 point dogs in tomorrow’s contest, and rightfully so, they’ve earned it. However if The Buckeyes pull an Ohio State and lose ANOTHER BCS Bowl Game, they become The Atlanta Braves of the new Milennium. The Buckeyes need this win bad. Jim Tressel’s legacy may depend on it.
