UFC makes its Memphis debut as B.J. Penn looks to continue his dominance of the lightweight division with what should be an exciting fight against a red hot Diego Sanchez.  And in heavyweight action, Frank Mir, fresh off of suffering a Brock Lesnar beatdown, will look to get his mojo back against heavyweight superstriker Cheick Kongo.

YOUR MAIN CARD PREDICTIONS

B.J. Penn over Diego Sanchez. As good as Sanchez has been as of late, his recent victories are a tad bit overvalued as he received favorable matchups.  B.J. Penn will nto allow Sanchez to stand and strike with him and as soon as this fight goes to the ground, which it will, Diego’s chances at an upset will go up in smoke.

Diego Sanchez looks to shock B.J. Penn at UFC 107.

This won’t be an easy fight for B.J., but he should win it with much less effort than most experts believe he will.

Frank Mir over Cheick Kongo. This fight will basically be a repeat of the Kongo/Herring fight where Cheick Kongo couldn’t figure out the superior Jui-Jitsu of his opponent.  Kongo will want to keep this fight standing up, however Frank Mir is an effective striker in his own right.  This is a terrible matchup for Cheick Kongo as his one-dimensional offense wil be exposed.

Kenny Florian over Clay Guida. Dana White probably wishes he had 50 Clay Guidas in the UFC as he forces the action in every one of his fights making them more fun to watch.  KenFlo is the best lightweight fighter not named B.J. Penn, and Clay Guida’s overly aggressive style will allow Florian to utilize effective counterstriking, and a little bird tells me that this one will end in a rear-naked choke.

Stefan Struve over Paul Buentello. We shy away from fighters making their ‘welcome to the UFC’ debuts and this will be no exception.  Struve’s exceptional Jui-Jitsu should overwhelm Buentello, who is primarily a kickboxer.  Struve has been on a bit of a roll in The UFC, and we like him to continue his role in The UFC against a fighter making his debut with The UFC.

Jon Fitch over Mike Pierce. When is Jon Fitch going to get another shot at GSP?  He’ll have a golden opportunity to get back into the title picture with a win over a talented Mike Pierce that we think he’s going to get.  Fitch’s gritty, grimey, and tough style of fighting make him hard to go against.  Although Pierce will be Fitch’s toughest test since going up against GSP last year, we like Fitch to get past this one.
