Silva Snoozefest Alert! Demian Maia to Replace Vitor Belfort in UFC 112 Championship Bout
__________________________________________________________________________UFC.com has confirmed that Demian Maia (#5 Middleweight on Sherdog.com) will replace Vitor Belfort in the main event for their big UFC 112 show that will take place in Abu Dhabi.
Maia has impressed thus far in his young career, and has even hit our radar as a Big Nasty Athletic Dept. Fighter to watch (as part of a list to be released later this week). Many question whether or not Maia will be ready for a fight of this magnitude, yet our main concern is whether or not this fight will be any good as it will pit two Jui-Jitsu aces against one another which was the case during a boring 5 round dancefest between Silva and Thales Leites.
We can’t help but feel that the city of Abu Dhabi may be left with a bad taste in its mouth about the UFC when the pomotion makes its debut on April 10 as a fight between a promising yet green Demian Maia and a dominant-when-pressed Anderson Silva could end after 5 rounds of “I’ll go when you do.” Thank god for B.J. Penn.
