Big Nasty’s WWE NXT Power Rankings
__________________________________________________________________________1. Daniel Bryan- The WWE picked just the right time for ‘Daniel Byran’ week as The American Dragon was performing in front of a hot home crowd. It was good to see The WWE greenlight some new weapons for Bryan to showcase, and as each week goes on I become more and more interested in a Daniel Bryan/Miz feud.
2. David Otunga- Didn’t quite know what to make of this guy at first even though I knew we were going to get heaping scoops of his muscular physique on a weekly basis, but this guy is going to be a star. We all know about his talking ability and mainstream appeal, but what people may be surprised with in upcoming weeks is that the dude is an athlete who has the potential to be decent in the ring at the worst. Given some time, David Otunga and his Kevin Federline heat could be your world champion.
3. Heath Slater- Dark horse alert! Lookin for a breakout star? We may have found him. Look for the powers that be to keep this kid in check, if you know what I mean.
4. Wade Barrett- Still one of my personal favorites, but the logic behind Barrett’s mini-promo on Justin Gabriel was terribly flawed. You’re not even a fan favorite, what makes you think you have a chance against me?! As if the fans actually have a say in who’s going to win. What do they think this is, what WWE NXT was supposed to be?
5. Justin Gabriel- Still in the in progress category, however the progress is good thus far.
6. Darren Young- Young’s featured promo was befuddling to say the least. The guy is advertised as this high-energy party animal, and all the confessionals are done in character, yet when he was doing his confessional amidst all these cutaways of him smiling and energetically making his way to the ring, Darren Young was monotone and went about his promo as if he was asked to conduct the interview witihin 24 hours of a rave from the night before.
[Michael Tarver and Skip Sheffield were not featured long enough to qualify this week.]
