Darren Young WWE NXT

The WWE’s immense growth has given way to developmental relationships with Florida Championship Wrestling (as well as a handful of next generation superstars to star in WWE NXT), and with the Youtube Age we are able to efficiently scout up-and-coming talent before they make their debut on the big stage. Before you see them get buried or pushed at the next level, you will have the rare opportunity to get an in-depth breakdown of the superstars of tomorrow today. Talent will be evaluated on a five-star scale in 4 categories: Overall Rating, Physique, Charisma, and In-Ring Work.

Darren Young

Overall Rating: ***

Physique: ****

Charisma: ****

In-Ring Work: **

Strengths: His high energy and charisma will carry him as he learns the ropes.

Weaknesses: Quite limited in the ring, and doesn’t seem to serve a purpose just yet.

Similar Styles: John Cena, The Rock (Rocky Maivia days)

Signature Moves: Running knee into the corner, Full Nelson Slam

Headline Potential: Midcard

Accolades: Currently featured on WWE NXT as #8 of 8 rookies in the pro’s poll.

Scouting Report: We’re confident in the fact that Darren Young has ‘it’, however the problem is we don’t know exactly what ‘it’ is.  Young has the look, the size, the athleticism, and the potential to be a big star under the WWE umbrella, although his current ‘party boy’ gimmick seems to have trouble connecting with the live crowds.

Young’s partyboy lifestyle being juxtaposed with CM Punk’s Hardcore/Straight Edge mantra on WWE NXT has potential to not only be entertaining television, but to get Darren Young over as a babyface or heel.  Despite having the makings of something very special, the WWE does not seem to be concerned with the limitless storylines that can involve Darren Young and the company’s best heel, however Young being ranked #8 in the worked pro’s poll tells us that they have taken notice of this odd pairing and have future plans for it.

Darren Young’s in-ring style, while still green as expected, will only get better.  Young is very athletic for his size as a couple of his moves in his arsenal features him flying through the air with that 230+ pound frame.  Young falls into a quite abundant category of WWE Superstars who we feel will make the most of a serious push if they are given such an opportunity.  Don’t be fooled by the #8 ranking, we think Darren Young can be something very special.

Key Match: Darren Young and David Otunga vs. Daniel Bryan and Michael Tarver
