League Merger: Could We Be Witnessing the End of ‘Leagues’ in Baseball?
__________________________________________________________________________Of all the nonsensical arguments in sports, the combative discussion of AL/NL superiority reigns supreme. The answer should be obvious.
AL (D.H.) > N.L. (3-1 pitcher’s duel/ratings killer)
However Matthew Futterman of the Wall Street Journal discusses the merits, pros, and cons to “Making the League Whole Again.”
The inquisitive piece delves into the possibilities of a one league system, including some less than flattering statistics for National League enthusiasts.
So what if the A.L. and N.L. merged? I say pull the trigger. Keep the DH and play ball. However we do not feel comfortable with any decision of this caliber being made by the oft maligned Bud Selig. As is the case with many significant Bud Selig decisions, should Selig finally decide to pull the trigger he might forget that he had the gun pointed to his nuts the whole time.
