College Football Crapshoot: Road Trip!
__________________________________________________________________________[Week 8 Crappy Record: 3-3]
[Cumulative Crappy Record: 34-14]
In what seems to be an underdog conspiracy, seven top ten teams will be going on the road looking to avoid an upset. With room for error always minimal in college football, this week’s festivities could be the most intriguing since week 2.

Here’s what I know will happen…
I know that Oklahoma (-23) will cover at home against Colorado. After a tough loss to a tough Missouri team on the road, the Sooners are far from eliminated from national title contention. A dominant home win against the inferior Buffaloes would only help the Sooners’ cause, and OU has everything to gain with so many top flight teams going on the road (including Mizzou who plays Nebraska).
Look for an angry and desperate Oklahoma team to jump all over the Colorado Buffaloes early and never let up. Colorado’s mediocre defense should facilitate a high scoring affair in Norman.
I know that Utah (-7) will cover at Air Force. The Utes will have their hands full with Air Fore this weekend, however the Falcons will be coming off back to back road losses with one of these losses coming against top ten TCU.
Air Force is a nice football program, however they have shown that they are not in the same class as a team like Utah, or even TCU (who are frauds). Air Fore played the Utes tough last year, only losing by a touchdown.
With a possible championship bid in their sights, Utah will look to impress voters with a decisive, quality win against the talented, yet struggling, Air Force Falcons.
Here’s what I think will happen…
I think USC (+7) will cover vs. Oregon. With two weeks to prepare for a home game against a Ducks team coming off of a home blowout win on national television the much improved Trojans have immense value as an underdog in this spot.
This is one of the scarier games for a top ten team going on the road, as USC isn’t your typical 24th ranked College Football program, and is about 2-3 plays from still being undefeated.
USC has found their rhythm through the air, and the Ducks can be had defensively with a slightly below average pass defense. USC will look to avenge a blowout loss on the road this time last year to the Ducks, and there’s no better way to do this than by possibly spoiling Oregon’s national championship surge.
I think Nebraska will beat Missouri outright. Despite losing to Texas (who had two weeks to prepare) two weeks back and struggling defensively against Oklahoma State in a winning effort, the Cornhuskers are still one of the best teams in college football. Taylor Martinez has hit his stride and had a resurgent performance against Oklahoma State that should go a long way in revitalizing the Cornhuskers.
With zero room for error, and intercepting a Missouri team coming off a hugely emotional national television victory, the Cornhuskers should get back into the national championship picture with a surprisingly simple win over the Tigers.
Here’s what I’m probably wrong about...
I’m probably wrong, but UNLV (+35) will cover vs. TCU. TCU will be going on the road to play the Rebels, who they embarrassed last year, just one week before their most important game of the season against Utah. TCU will be prone to looking ahead on the road against a team seeking revenge, and UNLV should have an opening to at least make things interesting.
I’m probably wrong, but Michigan State (+6) will cover at Iowa. Iowa’s defense has been slowly eroding as their season drags on, and their shaky offensive line will make things easier for an opportunistic Michigan State defense. The Spartans, even at #5, are highly unappreciated as most seem to be waiting for them to eventually lose. The disappointing Iowa Hawkeyes should play State tough, but in the end, I see Iowa dropping yet another close decision to a ranked opponent.
