WWE: Skeleton in Vince McMahon’s Closet Fires Up Laptop, Starts Blog
__________________________________________________________________________Former WWE creative team member John Piermarini recently left the demanding ranks of WWE’s Creative writer’s guild, but he’s not going peacefully into the night.
Fresh off of an in-depth interview with PWTorch, where Piermarini peels back the curtain Secrets of Pro Wrestling style on WWE’s creative process, Piermarini launched a blog entitled Creative Recall. The mild smear campaign orchestrated by Piermarini has garnered its share of critical acclaim, prompting complimentary testimony, pertaining to the PWTorch interview, from a some mark named Gutter.
But Piermarini seems to have gotten off to too hot of a start as the blog has declared temporary dormancy as of January 22, 2011.
So why did the blog get shut down? A host of obvious conspiracy theories come to mind, all of which have merit. Did WWE Headquarters have a talk with Piermarini shortly after the blog hit their radar? Did the informative blogger realize he was in breach of human resources protocol by setting up a tell-all blog in such close proximity to his unceremonious exit from the fed? Perhaps an agent freaked out after learning about the content of Piermarini’s highly enlightening interview with the PWTorch. How long did Piermarini’s non-compete clause last? Did Vince McMahon sick his lawyers on Creative recall? DID ARI GOLD GET INVOLVED?!
Whatever the reason for the blog’s current absence, it’s probably safe to assume that Creative Recall’s content, upon its imminent return, may not be as in depth as originally intended. I, personally, was extremely excited to gain such unprecedented access to the inner workings of the WWE creative process without having to pay the annual fee for a PWTorch Newsletter stuffing my mailbox every week.
Unfortunately, I have a fleeting feeling that once Creative Recall returns it will hold back, to some degree, as far as being a true tell-all blog. It’s highly likely that the blog’s current down time may be an instance of John Piermarini seeing what stories he can get away with publishing without WWE’s high powered legal team collectively punching his laptop in the face.
For what it’s worth, excerpts from the website’s original postings were saved by prowrestling.com. Topics focused mainly on the office’s view of Christian as well as the possibility of a feud with longtime friend Edge.
“As much as it seems Christian turns into the fan favorite choice to win Money in the Bank Match each year it’s not going to happen. Christian is seen as a good hand that can help some of the younger talent and does not have a lot of support from higher ups to be a Main Event guy. Edge vs. Christian as a Main Event program has been pitched to death and rejected every time.”
“Before Christian was injured a story was being developed to turn Christian heel and work a program with Matt Hardy. The seeds were being dropped on Smackdown at the time Christian was injured.”
