Now Who’s Jim Gray Pissing Off?

Resident cranky uncle Jim Gray has made headlines, as opposed to reporting them, once again. Gray has forged an unfavorable niche of becoming embroiled in confrontations and uncomfortable turned infamous moments with pro athletes and sports figures, most notably Pete Rose and, recently, Corey Pavin.
Gray’s most recent tilt, in the form of a heated argument with the caddie of pro golfer Dustin Johnson, was enough to warrant the removal of the pugnacious reporter from the Golf Channel’s coverage of the Northern Trust Open – coverage that 17 die hard golf nuts world wide relied upon for up to the minute news and analysis of the Northern Trust Open.
Says USA Today:
“Johnson’s caddie went into a profanity-laced screaming match with Gray after he reported on The Golf Channel earlier that day that Johnson had landed a two-shot penalty for being late to the tee.”
Jim Gray’s propensity of being front and center of the always juicy reporter-athlete showdown is something of legend. It’s worth mentioning that Gray was the interviewer in question during Mike Tyson’s infamous rant on Lennox Lewis, where the former heavyweight champion promised to eat Lewis’ children. Gray really assumed the role of appalled spectator in the whole debacle, along with the rest of America, but given his aforementioned reputation for controversial spats with both high and low profile sports figures, we blame him for the rant entirely.
