Jim Ross Tweets Big Nasty Face to Face
__________________________________________________________________________I was the subject of a measurable amount of controversy this past Friday following my latest Evening’s with Jim piece published on Bleacher Report.
Ross is, by all means, a sacred cow in the land of Internet journalism and is amongst a select few pro wrestling figures who is considered almost untouchable when it comes to Internet criticisms of his likeness.
I’ve taken the alternate route, as I have become accustomed to doing in recent years, with my signature pieces responding to Jim Ross’ blog and once Bleacher Report got its first taste of the column, many of ‘Bleachers’ lost their collective shit.
I happen to be a fan of Jim Ross’ work and feel just as jilted as he must have when he showed up to work one day to find Michael Cole sitting in his saddle. By the same token, I realize Ross is not exempt from criticism or parody and I therefore run with the opportunity to occasionally express my first amendment rights at his expense.
And Ross agrees. This past Friday, Jim Ross reached out to yours truly via twitter to fan the mild flames I created with his cowboy hat. As expected, Ross was very classy about the whole ordeal and understands one’s right to express their opinion as jaded and sardonic as it may be.
In a way, I kind of received JR’s blessing to continue to keep his ‘cannon fodder’ honest. Plus, I helped get Bleacher Report a Jim Ross endorsement for all that’s worth. So let the blaspheming continue.
