Triple H Beats CM Punk

WWE Night of Champions had some t0ugh sledding from the outset, up against Vick’s injury-riddled return to Atlanta and the Emmy Awards. The fact that the pay-per-view more less sucked won’t do it any favors either.

In a pay-per-view that was s0-so going into the main event, both the pay-per-view and the main event, between CM Punk and Triple H, severely fell apart simultaneously like a Jenga playset made of plywood.

Here’s a short list of the interfering parties during the Triple H-CM Punk main event inevitably won by the Game (the “*” is an indicator of facetiousness):

  • R-Truth
  • The Miz
  • John Laurinaitis
  • Bob Armstrong Referee A
  • Referee B
  • Kevin Nash
  • The Buffalo Bills
  • Beth Phoenix*
  • Stephanie McMahon*
  • The 1986 Denver Broncos*
  • Michael Cole (who blamed Punk for losing his voice)*

–John Cena going over Alberto Del Rio will spark some ire among the always sensitive Internet crowd, but this is probably to set up Del Rio re-capturing the title in his home country of Mexico.

–Mark Henry is still rolling as he defeated Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Championship.  He is the most consistently booked WWE Superstar on the roster, but given the way that title has been changing hands lately, he’ll probably lose it on the way back to the plane.

–Sure, it wasn’t a pretty sight to see Beth Phoenix drop the Diva’s title in her hometown, but Kelly Kelly remains Divas champion which puts heat on the belt.  At least they’re putting heat on something.

–Dolph Ziggler needs to defend that U.S. Title more often.  This was the first match that he actually came off like a champion to me, cheap victory and all.
