Tonight will see two bigtime fighters going head to head in two different sports, but in an even more intriguing story, two bigtime promotions will go head to head as UFC 103 goes head to head with HBO’s airing of The Welterweight showdown between a returning Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez.  UFC is the hottest sport in the world right now, however UFC 103, which features a main event bout between Rich Franklin and a returning Vitor Belfort, lacks the star power that UFC has featured in recent fights.

It’s also important to note that this weekend, Mexican Independence day, is usually a big boxing weekend.  That said, we’re still taking UFC to outsell Mayweather v. Marquez.  If Mayweather were to fight Manny Pacquiao, this would be a whole different story.
